Services for Disabled Students and Students with Dyslexia

The USW library service aims to provide the widest possible access to learning and teaching resources and to remove any barriers resulting from disability or additonal learning need. These web pages provide a gateway to information about the services and facilities we provide to maximise accessibility.

Borrowing Library Resources

You will need your student ID card to borrow resources in the Library.

Books, DVDs and CDs

These library resources will auto-renew unless they have been requested by another library user. If a request has been placed for a resource which is on loan to a DDS student then the following minimum loan periods will apply:

One week loan resources – these may be borrowed for one additional week.
High demand (two day) resources – these may be borrowed for up to one week.

Digital audio recorders and laptops

These media resources may be borrowed for up to one week and then must be returned to the library to be renewed/returned. They must be renewed/returned at the library from which they were borrowed

Physical Access to Libraries for Students with Mobility Restrictions

Within all USW libraries we include computers with specialised software and workspaces that are height adjustable desks.

All library computers have Inspiration (mind-mapping) and TextHELP (Read & Write) software.
Identified computers have Supernova (screen-reader) software.

For the locations of these computers and height adjustable desks see our floorplans.
